The Hawkins for Governor campaign is seeking a Capital District Campaign Coordinator to be based in the Capital District.

 

Immediate start date with an end date of November 14, 2014.

 

This is a part-time position, beginning with 20 hours per week, with opportunities to increase hours based on performance and campaign fundraising success.

 

The Capital District Coordinator (CDC) will be responsible for recruiting and coordinating campaign supporters for campaign visibility and voter outreach throughout New York's Capital District (Albany, Troy, Schenectady) as well as supporting the campaign of Green candidate for Comptroller, Theresa Portelli. The CDC will work with campaign management team, campaign volunteers and Green Party activists to develop and implement a field plan that will include voter registration, voter contact programs (phone banks, outreach canvasses), campaign rallies and fundraising events. Campaign Coordinator will bear primary responsibility for execution of the field plan in the Capital District and will manage data collection and entry. Capital District Coordinator reports to the Campaign Manager.

 

CDC will make sure that volunteers are informed of strategy and needs of statewide campaign. CDC will make sure that new campaign supporters are integrated into ongoing campaign activities (posting volunteer ops on website, social media, listservs, announcing meetings to Hawkins Nation and phoning regarding volunteer needs). The UCC will leverage presence of Comptroller candidate in Albany. The CDC will be expected to build enthusiasm for the Green Party among campaign supporters in order to support longterm party.

 

Among campaign activities Capital District Coordinator responsible for: GOTV rallies, mobilizing Hawkins supporters and Greens for canvassing and leafleting, developing GOTV plan for Capital District (volunteer needs and GOTV priorities), assisting with fundraising events and will also work with Hawkins campaign to develop a campaign presence on college campuses.

 

Qualifications  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Action-oriented.
• A proven ability to recruit and coordinate volunteers.

Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

Ability to work independently.

Commitment to Green Party values required.

Previous experience on electoral or issue campaigns.
• Bi-lingual a plus.

• Drivers license and access to a vehicle preferred but not required.   

 

The ideal candidate will be committed to Green principles and passionate about radical social change. They should be a self-starter able to work independently while also accepting supervision. Must be very computer literate. Must thrive in a fast paced environment, and stay calm under pressure.

 

Compensation:

 

A modest, living wage hourly rate, staring $15/hour. Opportunities to increase hours and/or hourly wage based on performance and fundraising ability.
