Ralph Nader to Headline Rally for the Only Progressive Candidate for NY Governor…
Coming into the homestretch of the governor's race, after what is expected to be a Howie Hawkins debate victory on October 22nd, consumer advocate and former Presidential candidate Ralph Nader will headline a campaign rally and fundraiser for the Howie Hawkins for Governor campaign in Manhattan

Ralph Nader will rally the campaign supporters and volunteers to get out the vote for Howie Hawkins and will highlight the Green Party's agenda including: acting on climate change and clean energy, banning fracking, raising the minimum wage to $15, creating public sector jobs, creating and protecting affordable housing for the working and middle classes, legalizing marijuana, fighting for economic justice and criminal justice reform.
As the New York Green Party's candidate for Governor in 2010, he campaigned for progressive taxes and revenue sharing as the alternative to Andrew Cuomo's cuts to schools, cities, and public services. He received nearly 60,000 votes, which gave the Green Party a ballot line statewide for the next four years. Hawkins came in third out of seven gubernatorial candidates on the 2010 ballot. He is currently polling at 9% which would equate to 415,000 votes, which would once again ensure automatic ballot status for the Green Party and make the Green Party the leading progressive party in the state.

This is Ralph Nader's second major Hawkins 2014 campaign event. Nader has said of Howie Hawkins, "We have to shake off this cocoon of two parties dialing for the same corporate dollars. Howie Hawkins is the most unwavering progressive I've met in New York State."

The funds raised will go to the Hawkins for Governor television and radio ad blitz.

Suggested price for tickets are $20.

The average campaign donation to Andrew Cuomo is 100 times larger thank the Hawkins campaign's average contribution. 331 donors each have given Cuomo over $40,000 totaling over $22 million (half his campaign war chest) - to buy access and favors. When the Moreland Commission on Public Corruption began to ask why the real estate, gambling and other special interests were giving so much money to Cuomo, he immediately shut it down.
